The small space on West Water Street, beside Sidetracks Music, opened three monts ago, but locals
and visitors to the Charlottesville City Market have been familiar with our home made pastries, pies,
and breads for the last three years.
We are originally from Bosnia, a city called Zenica but we lived in Croatia and Serbia, when the war
started.
Most of what we serve are traditional Balkan creations, such as Meat Pie (Burek) and Cevapcici, a
kind of grilled minced meat sandwich, the recipes for which are hundreds of years old. Our traditional
baklava is also a local favorite.
Another special treat is our traditional Bosnian coffee, prepared by boiling finely ground coffee (along
with sugar if you like) in a small, pear-shaped pot, at the bottom of which the coffee dregs settle
before it is poured unfiltered into small cups.
It is a simple method often though of as Turkish coffee, but the Bosnian method has variety that
makes us unique espresso experience.
